So my faith is something I rarely talk about or how discovering that (Christian) faith has changed my life.
Often for the most part I am rather vocal about my views and opinions but when it comes to the subject of religion I tread on water to make others around me comfortable, as most of my friends consider themselves spiritual but Atheist.
I grew up as a Buddhist and as a Buddhist, we were taught to respect all life, about the consequences of karma and reincarnation, and more importantly how to seek enlightenment. The teachings all seemed so right but still I always saw Buddhism as a way of life, a tradition I grew up with not a religion.
A lot of people may disagree with me on this but to seek enlightenment means to put faith in yourself and your actions, essentially you being in control of your destiny. Religion, however, is when you put your faith in a higher being not yourself.
For a long time I struggled to put my faith in that higher being, the Creator, aka God. I always thought why put my faith in someone who damned everyone who didn’t believe in him, or anyone the Church considered damned, a God who killed everyone at Sodom and Gomorrah because there were homosexuals there.
Why? I couldn’t stand some God believers that believed that marriage is a sacred vow only between a man and a woman. And some believers who kept reciting, “If a man also lie with a mankind, as he lieth with a woman…” –Leviticus 20:13. Holy cr#p, what a scary God! Why should I believe in God when he is so merciless and unjust?

I think this subject of homosexuality and marriage is the reason why most turn away from God and the Church. I know I was turned off by it.
I have an older brother who is gay and is happily married to his husband of 7yrs. When I started to find my faith I would sometimes ask myself, if I was to believe then would I be disapproving the marriage between my brother and his husband.
And after realizing God is kind and not as cruel as some make him out to be, I believed that God himself just has love for all and so will I. Radicals and right wing Christians would like to scare you into believing you will go to hell based on your sexual orientation but God gave us free will for a reason. I agree with S. A. Abraham, our God is not so merciless and unjust.

I am not perfect and no one is perfect and this is how the Creator created us. The same goes for my brother and his husband. Don’t think that in God’s eyes you are bad and damned if so choose to lie with the same sex for you are created as you are.
So for those who call me a bad Christian for loving my brother and his husband for believing that everyone has the right to marry I say you are the bad Christian because God teaches us to love all and to do unto others as you would have them do to you.

During my darkest days when I thought I would be judged by God, I found a kind God, who understood that I was just human, as he understands that he created us as mere humans.
