In Censored for Curing Cancer: The American Experience of Dr. MAX GERSON, we read that;
- “Dr. Gerson’s conviction is that the chemistry of our bodies is being changed, at great harm to us. That the foods, the means of preparing foods, [and] the very soil is being contaminated by the stages of civilization.”
- “With his selection of diet, he is moving to restore the balance in the system; once that is achieved, he professes, sick cells can be restored, cancers can disappear” (p.35-36).
Based on the treatments, the research, and the work of Dr. Max Gerson, it is possible to make some changes in your everyday habits which might have significant positive results on your overall health.
As an example, non-organic dairy milk produced with growth hormones is explained in the following way by the Project Director of the Campaign for Safe Food.
(Non-organic) Milk producers treat their dairy cattle with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) to boost milk production.
- “But rBGH also increases udder infections and even pus in the milk. It also leads to higher levels of a hormone called Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF-1) in milk…”
- “In people, high levels of IGF-1 may contribute to breast, prostate, and colon cancers. When the government approved rBGH, it was thought that IGF-1 from milk would be broken down in the human digestive tract… [But it is not broken down]…”
The solution: Choose organic milk which is produced without the use of growth hormones.The “budget tip” given is to choose generic or store-brand organic milk in order to save money or to find a local producer whose milk comes from (growth) hormone-free cows.
And with regards to non-organic milk, be aware that even milk labelled "rBGH-free" can come from cows doused with high levels of antibiotics, which are also used to boost milk production. Once again, for those who must drink dairy milk, organic milk is the best option.
Dr. Max Gerson reminds us:
- “Our nutrition starts with the soil. Man will be forever dependent on the iron laws of nature because the soil produces all his nutrition... When man disturbs the biological balance there, dire consequences fall on him...
- “When civilization came and polished [a staple food like rice] to look white and prettier, important minerals and vitamins were removed [the same process as that of white bread.]…” (p.104)
- “…In addition to damage to the soil, the food is refined, canned, bottled, powdered, frozen, colour added, poisoned by chemical sprays, etc., until finally it becomes a mass of dead, unnatural, partly poisoned substances…” (p.104).
In their efforts “to boost production and to maximise their profits”, pesticides, herbicides and artificial fertilizers, as well as GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) and food additives, are produced in very large quantities by Big Business including Agribusiness, large chemical companies, biotech companies and major Food Corporations.
Some of the main problems with most of the man-made chemicals and industrial waste that end up in our air, water and soil, are their toxic effect on the organic material of the human body, and the fact that they disrupt the balance of nature.
It is, therefore, up to us as individuals, as families and as communities, to educate ourselves on the relevant issues, and to make as much as possible, well-informed and healthier choices in our buying and consumption habits.
At the same time, in terms of the real and tangible solutions available to address the various health issues affecting people today, we should note that the Gerson Diet, has also been modified for and successfully applied not only to cases of cancer, but also to many other conditions.
Some of these include migraines, asthma, tuberculosis, arthritis, heart disease, chronic sinusitis, chronic ulcers, colitis, high blood pressure, psoriasis, sclerosis multiplex, as well as liver and gall bladder diseases among others. (p. 52-53)Censored for Curing Cancer…
